Relaunch of GAH website with TYPO3 and crossbase API server

The API server enables us to use the centrally maintained product information in third-party systems. This allows us to display all product information in the product area of our website in a simple, flexible and media-compatible manner without any additional maintenance.

Herscheid, 09.04.2018: The company Gust. Alberts GmbH & Co. KG, GAH-Alberts for short, is a traditional and leading manufacturer of products and ideas for the home and garden - now in its fifth generation. The company is headquartered in the Sauerland region and has four sales companies in Europe and Russia. The product range includes, among others, hardware & fittings, profiles & sheets and fencing technology. The more than 8,000 international trade partners include in particular DIY stores, specialist retailers and online retailers.

Central functions of the solution

Online catalog with CMS TYPO3

For the relaunch of the website and the online catalog at Gustav Alberts, the CMS TYPO3 was used. The implementation was carried out by the agency David&Goliath. The country-specific online catalog is available in the languages German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Russian. In addition to the data for the online catalog, an electronic catalog for nexMart is provided in parallel with crossbase.

With the provision of "deep links" from the online partners, a "buy online function" can thus be made available for each item with the help of the nexMart "retail Connect" module. By clicking on the appropriate button, stores selling the desired product online are automatically identified and a further click links directly to the item of the selected store. Alternatively, you can search for a stationary dealer in the vicinity.

Direct access with crossbase API server

By means of the crossbase API server, the online catalog created in Typo3 is supplied with product information directly from the crossbase database. To keep the data volume as low as possible, only the data that has changed since the last access is transferred. This concerns the transfer of the following product information for the respective catalog range:

  • the navigation structure for organizing the products
  • the illustration of item variants, e.g. items that differ in material / surface
  • the technical data, e.g. material, surface, dimensions
  • manually created as well as automatically generated texts, e.g. the product description
  • the media files, e.g. product photos, application photos, assembly instructions and videos
