InDesign Plug-in

Work Creatively with crossbase and Automatically Apply Corrections and Language Changes

crossbase offers plug-ins for complete integration into Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. Users can thus combine the advantages of creative freedom with database-supported production. With the InDesign plug-in, images, texts and tables can be accessed on a read-only basis and the elements can be set in InDesign. This content can then be automatically updated and language changes made, as the connection to the database is permanently maintained.

Using the InDesign plug-in, you can access images, texts and tables and set the elements in InDesign. This content can then be automatically updated and language changes made, as the connection to the database remains permanent.

It doesn't always have to be a large product catalog that needs to be produced automatically using standardized layout templates. Often it is numerous smaller flyers, brochures and folders that you want to design creatively. Our InDesign plug-in is particularly suitable for this. It integrates directly into the main menu of InDesign so that the palette is immediately available after entering the login data. You can use this palette to access the product information in the crossbase database directly. It can be moved and placed on a second monitor, for example. The interface is intuitive and self-explanatory and enables application without the need for a great deal of training.

  • Read-only access to images, texts and tables in the PIM system

  • Automatic updating of corrections possible
  • Automatic language change possible
  • Platform-independent availability for Windows and Apple

Function Overview

Insert

Click on the plus symbol to insert the selected image, text or table into the document. If required, image data can be downloaded in low resolution to a local directory if access to the PIM system is temporarily unavailable during further editing of the document (e.g. at the external agency). Text formatting can also be taken into account - the prerequisite for this is that the corresponding paragraph and character styles are available in the InDesign document.

Search

All images, texts or tables can be queried via a full-text search or structured search in trees, e.g. the product structure or media structure. The search is visually supported by previews with a zoom function.

Save

The InDesign document is saved in the file directory or in the PIM system. Any content in the document that was selected via the PIM system retains the link. This means that it is possible to trace the origin of this content at any time. For this purpose, a corresponding label is stored on the object when content is placed in the InDesign document.

Language change

Completed documents can be translated automatically. The foreign-language texts and images are inserted congruently on language layers. Formatting is retained.

Refresh

Placed content can be subsequently updated with a click of the mouse. This means that all corrections that have been made in the PIM system in the meantime are automatically applied.
