Online Product Finder at asecos

Background

The goal of the Finder was to create a modern and easy-to-use tool that integrates seamlessly with crossbase’s PIM system. Specific requirements included support for international markets, easy content management, and the ability to expand the range of functions.

Technical Implementation

At the start, the user selects the desired language and country, with automatic preselection available via geolocation. Items can then be found directly using the item search with an autocomplete feature or filtered by technical specifications. Filter options such as checkboxes, selection lists, and sliders are available and supported by explanatory tooltips.

During configuration, a clearly organized filter bar allows users to review or reset selected filters at any time. The results are automatically displayed in an attractive tile view, which can be flexibly controlled by showing or hiding the filter bar or by adjusting the number of pages.

In addition to product images and technical specifications, the product detail pages also provide configuration and shipping information. This is supplemented by links to accessories and alternative items, as well as downloads of documents and CAD drawings, which are also available bundled as a ZIP file.

Specialty retailers can link directly to the configurator using a specific ID, so that customer inquiries are forwarded to them specifically. Alternatively, the checkout process allows for the manual selection of a specialty retail partner. The inquiry process is completed with a confirmation email listing the items.

To maintain and expand content, filters and product data can be customized in the PIM system without any programming knowledge. Features such as drag-and-drop enable easy management of filter options, groupings, and explanatory tooltips.

Result

The Finder supports five languages and 14 country-specific product ranges. Thanks to full integration with crossbase’s PIM system, all product information is always current and readily available, and the entire translation and maintenance process is efficiently supported. For external access, the website is hosted on a high-availability system, which guarantees its availability.
